Octopus Books imprint Aster has acquired Fear Less, Live More by two-time GB Olympian Aimee Fuller.
Natalie Bradley, senior commissioning editor, acquired world all language rights from Melanie Michael-Greer at the Michael Greer Literary Agency. The title will be published in hardback, e-book and audio on 17th February 2022.
Fuller is a professional snowboarder and has competed in two winter Olympics. She has also travelled to North Korea for her first marathon, fronting the documentary "Running in North Korea" for the Olympic Channel. Over the years, she has discovered that "while it's scary to step outside your comfort zone, it can also be freeing", the publisher said.
In her "honest, insightful, and high-energy" book, Fuller will share everything she has learned from testing her own limits. The Olympian will draw on her training as a professional athlete to provide confidence-building tools that can be applied to any aspect of life, like goal setting, maintaining consistency, celebrating your strengths, learning from failure, taking comfort in choice, owning your decisions and visualising success.
Bradley said of the acquisition: "Spend just five minutes with Aimee and you will sense her fierce energy and zest for life. I couldn’t think of anyone better to write a book about living life to the fullest. After more than a year of being stuck at home, this book is the motivation we all need!"
Fuller commented: "I’m thrilled to have brought together the lessons I’ve learned from a sports life on and off snow in this book. I love being open to an environment where anything can happen and, in my experience, it’s all about exploring new and unchartered territory. For many of us, that’s precisely where fear kicks in and it can be a paralyzing force. I’m offering my view that handling fear comes down to a specific, liberating attitude. We’re all so capable of having a zest for life and if we acknowledge fear and embrace the right approaches to it, we can tackle anything that’s thrown at us with energy, precision and fear-beating strategies."
