Aster has signed a new cookbook from award-winning food writer Sabrina Ghayour, entitled Flavour.
Stephanie Jackson, publisher at Octopus Publishing Group, acquired world language rights from Martine Carter at Sauce Management. Flavour will be published in October 2023 at £26 in hardback.
Described as “a brand-new collection of simple, delicious, crowd-pleasing recipes from the bestselling Middle-Eastern chef”, recipes featured include: beetroot and pomegranate salad; mama ghanoush; ras el hanout and orange lamb cutlet platter; and roasted tomatoes with yoghurt and sumac spice oil. “Each fuss-free dish is guaranteed to satisfy and delight,” the publisher says.
Ghayour’s debut cookbook, Persiana (Mitchell Beazley), was named Best New Cookbook at the Observer Food Monthly awards 2014 and Book of the Year at the 2015 Food & Travel Awards. Stephanie Jackson said of the announcement: “A new cookbook from the award-winning international bestselling food writer and true powerhouse Sabrina Ghayour is always an event – and though it’s difficult to choose a favourite I’m pleased to say that this collection of recipes is very possibly her best yet.
“Flavour is full of bangers – simple, sensational, superb dishes, each with a Middle-Eastern origin or twist. And just as you’d expect, the flavours Sabrina’s dishes deliver – whether spicy, sour, savoury, sweet – provide for maximum enjoyment with the minimum of fuss. With nearly half a million copies of her books in print via the UK Total Consumer Market alone, every one a Nielsen top 10 bestseller, and hundreds of thousands more sold worldwide – Sabrina Ghayour’s seventh book is guaranteed to deliver significant sales – and delight."
Ghayour commented: “I am so excited to be able to share a new book of full-flavoured recipes with you all. My experiences have taught me that people want simple, accessible recipes that deliver big on flavour but aren’t complicated and don’t require dozens of ingredients and this has and will always fit so naturally in the kind of books and recipes I like to write for people.
“My new book Flavour is exactly what it says on the cover, a book filled with recipes of interesting, accessible and simple flavour combinations using store cupboard staples combined with fresh ingredients to create simple, flavourful and economical meals at home. Rather than structure a book into strict categories with guidance on how to use it, as I have done before, I ask my readers to trust me that as in all my previous books, the recipes are mostly very simple and many are very quick. Cooking is not about skill, it is about having time and patience but confidence is truly what makes someone a good cook at home and I hope my recipes will provide lots more inspiration to boost the confidence of any home cook of any skill level.”
