Atom has landed All My Rage, a “brilliant” novel about family, forgiveness, love and loss by Sabaa Tahir.
Olivia Hutchings, commissioning editor, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Felicity Blunt at Curtis Brown. The novel will be published in paperback and e-book in August 2022.
Tahir is the fantasy author of the Ember in the Ashes series which has been translated into more than 35 languages.
The new book’s synopsis reads: “It tells the story of Salahudin and Noor, who have grown up together feeling as though they are outcasts in the small desert town of Juniper, California. Sal is struggling to run his family’s motel as his mother’s health is failing and his father has been consumed by alcoholism. Noor has dreams to go to college, but she lives with her uncle who forces her to stay working at his local shop.”
“When Sal’s attempts to save the motel spiral out of control, he and Noor must ask themselves what friendship is really worth and what it takes to defeat the monsters in their pasts and the ones in their midst.”
Hutchings said: “I am delighted to be bringing Sabaa Tahir’s incredibly moving novel All My Rage to the Atom list. It will appeal to readers of her previous fantasy books and fans of contemporary YA alike. Just remember to have tissues at the ready.”
Tahir said: “I am so happy to be working with the incredible team at Atom to bring All My Rage to my UK readers. This is a very personal story for me and the opportunity to have it published in the place where I was born feels very full circle.”
