August Books has nabbed Foolish: How Google Docs Knew I Was Getting Divorced Before I Did and Other Stories by comedian Sarah Cooper.
Martina O’Sullivan, executive publisher, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein on behalf of Susan Raihofer at David Black Literary Agency. The UK edition will be published with an exclusive chapter and is published by Dutton in the US.
Foolish is a collection of autobiographical "musings" where Cooper reflects on her life.
The synopsis says: "Whether it’s in auditions, on dates, at work in the Google offices, or on the set of her very own Netflix special, Sarah Cooper knows what it’s like to feel a little bit… foolish. The result is a book that is relatable, self-deprecating and darkly funny."
Cooper has appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live", "The Tonight Show" and "Ellen", as well as starring in her own Netflix comedy special, "Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine".
Most recently she was part of the ensemble cast of the Netflix comedy, "Unfrosted".
Cooper said “This book is unendingly pretentious and downright embarrassing. And I’m so proud of it. Martina and August Books were the perfect partners to grant a second life to this cringe-worthy journey of self-discovery.”
O’Sullivan added: "I’ve been a big fan of Sarah’s work since 100 Tricks to Appear Smart in
Meetings [Vintage] – a vital resource for any corporate acquisitions meeting. I am overjoyed to bring her funny and joyously messy book to UK audiences for the first time."
