Avon Books has bought two from ex-policeman Paul Finch, continuing his DS Mark ‘Heck’ Heckenburg and PC Lucy Clayburn series. This will take the total number of his books with the HarperCollins imprint to 10 by April 2019.
A number one e-book bestseller according the publisher, the Heck series has reportedlty sold over half a million copies in the UK to date, whilst Finch’s new PC Lucy Clayburn series took him into the Sunday Times top 10 for the first time. Sacrifice, his second novel, became one of the most pre-ordered e-books in HarperCollins UK’s history according to the publisher.
Helen Huthwaite, publishing director at Avon, said: “Paul is a master storyteller, and has an incredible ability to put readers on the edge of their seats, keeping them turning the pages well into the early hours. Having worked with Paul for many years now, I am thrilled to be continuing our partnership, and can’t wait to get more of his books into the hands of his many, many fans.”
Finch said: "I think I always knew that I was going to sign again with Avon. My relationship with them has been closer to personal friendship than simply as a name on their publishing list, though it's also been massively productive."
He added: "We've been on a fantastic journey together so far, and I can't wait for the next leg."
Finch is an ex-policeman, a former crime journalist and is also a scriptwriter.
