Avon has snapped up a novella from author Laura Jane Williams.
Molly Walker Sharp, commissioning editor, acquired world all language rights to The Wrong Suitcase from Ella Kahn at DKW Literary Agency. It is slated for publication in e-book and audiobook on 12th February with Williams reading the audiobook herself.
The publisher said: "The Wrong Suitcase follows Izzy and Sam as they arrive at the wedding of the year in Italy. But their hopes of a stress-free escape are quickly dashed when they arrive at the hotel, unzip their bags, and discover that there’s been a terrible mix-up… Funny, sassy, and just the right amount of sexy, The Wrong Suitcase is the perfect Valentine’s Day treat for anyone who is head over heels for love, or anyone who needs a reminder that happily-ever-after comes knocking when we least expect it."
Williams, who is Grazia’s former dating columnist, said: "Writing a novella is something I've always wanted to do – the challenge of a romance in 20,000 words was a sweet one. I got to dig deep on my own experiences of attending a luxe Italian wedding, penning this back when we were in our second lockdown and so getting to travel in my mind. I don't mind admitting I rather swept myself up in the escapism! It's a lot of fun, this one, as well as probably my most romantic tale yet. My lovely readers have often asked when I might record the audio for one of my own projects, too, and so I'm thrilled that the time is now."
Walker Sharp added: "We are so excited to be giving Laura’s loyal readers a double helping of romance this year, with her novella, The Wrong Suitcase, launching in February 2022 ahead of her summer publication. Laura is undoubtedly the queen of the meet cute, and we can’t wait for readers to be swept up in Izzy and Sam’s love story in this Valentine’s Day treat!"
