Avon Books has snapped up Little Bones, a “top-class” thriller by N V Peacock through its open submission process.
The publisher picked up world rights for the title, which will publish in e-book on 31st October with a paperback to follow in December. There will also be an audio edition with exclusive bonus content featuring podcast interviews with characters from the story.
Its synopsis explains: “A dark and twisty thriller, Little Bones is the story of Cherrie, the daughter of a serial killer running from her past and living under a new name. When disappearances start happening again a local true crime podcast exposes her identity, throwing her life – and those her family – in grave danger. But Cherrie is completely innocent – or is she?”
Beth Wickington, editorial assistant, said: “As soon as I read Nicky’s pitch, I knew this was a book to be really excited about. With all the twists and turns of a top-class thriller, Little Bones demands to be read in one breathless sitting. It takes the serial killer genre and adds a brilliant zeitgeisty edge – what would you do if your dark past was revealed on a true crime podcast? This is the thriller to read this Halloween and I can’t wait to share it with readers.”
Peacock, who lives in Northamptonshire, has written short stories for numerous anthologies and two YA supernatural series.
She said: “I’m so excited to be working with Beth and the Avon team on my thriller Little Bones. To be offered a contract with a major publisher through an open submission is every writer’s dream.”
