Awesome Media & Entertainment has optioned the media rights to Surface Tension, a graphic novel by Jay Gunn (the pen name of game designer Jason Wilson) and published by Titan Comics.
The novel is set on a channel island one year after the bulk of humanity walked into the ocean and drowned. As the community comes to terms with its loss, two people mysteriously return from the sea and cause havoc amongst the survivors.
Awesome, set up by novelist Jeff Norton, will now adapt Surface Tension for television.
Norton said: “While fans liken Surface Tension to 'The Walking Dead', we are focusing on the human drama of Jay Gunn’s compelling characters; think 'Humans' meets 'Lost'. This is an intelligent graphic novel with something important to say, and it will make ground-breaking television.”
