Headline Review has acquired two books from novelist Ayisha Malik.
Publisher Eleanor Dryden acquired world rights from Nelle Andrew at Rachel Mills Literary. The first novel in the deal, The Movement, will be published in 2022.
The Movement will explore the journeys of three different women, after a writer's personal act of protest goes viral and is adopted globally. The act sparks a movement that will redefine what empowerment looks like and what it means to have a voice.
Dryden commented: "I have long been one of Ayisha’s biggest fans and I am absolutely overjoyed that she is joining us at Headline Review. If you haven’t read her yet, you are in for a treat. Her talent absolutely shines off the page. Ayisha is one of the most refreshing and original storytellers writing today – her books are darkly funny, deeply moving, timely, so sharply and compassionately observed, and conversation-starting."
Malik said: "It is such an honour to become a part of Headline Review and to be able to work with Eli again. Her editorial know-how, alongside her understanding of my writing goals, not only makes working with her a joy, but makes the entire process transformative."
Malik previously published Sofia Khan Is Not Obliged (Twenty7, 2016) and This Green and Pleasant Land (Zaffre, 2019).
