HQ will publish two more books from B A Paris, the author of last year’s bestselling debut Behind Closed Doors.
Senior commissioning editor at the division of HarperCollins, Sally Williamson, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Camilla Wray at The Darley Anderson Agency.
The books will be published in Spring 2018 and 2019 respectively. Paris is the author of Behind Closed Doors, which was the bestselling debut of 2016, selling over 850,000 copies of which more than 140,000 were mass market paperback, according to the publisher. It was also last year’s bestselling e-book, beating Paula Hawkins’ The Girl on the Train (Transworld) and The Girl in the Ice by Robert Bryndze (Bookouture).
The Breakdown, the second novel from the former bank trader and teacher, is released on 9th February, and is a chilling psychological suspense novel exploring guilt, memory loss and paranoia. Both Behind Closed Doors and The Breakdown are currently in the Top 100 Kindle Bestsellers on Amazon.co.uk.
Paris said: “I'm delighted to continue working with Sally Williamson and HQ, it's an absolute pleasure to be part of such a dedicated and professional team.” The writer was originally with HarperCollins’ Harlequin division, within its imprint MIRA, before Harlequin was taken over by HQ, created last year.
Williamson said: “I couldn’t be happier to have acquired two more brilliant books from B A Paris. Her success has been absolutely phenomenal, and I’m so proud to be continuing on this journey with an author who is not only a huge talent but also such a delight to work with.”
Paris, a French resident, recently won the Specsavers Bestseller Awards' Gold Award, marking sales of over 500,000 copies. She was also shortlisted for last year’s The Hotel Chocolat Award for Darkest Moment at the Dead Good Reader Awards.
