Barrington Stoke has acquired a new funny adventure story by Guy Bass.
Aidan Abet, Teacher’s Pet is about a boy who gets on with teachers but not the other kids. But when his normal teacher retires she is replaced by Miss Vowel and a menagerie of strange animals, and Aiden has to work to avoid literally becoming a teacher’s pet.
Barrington Stoke editor Emma Baker acquired the world rights from Stephanie Thwaites at Curtis Brown and will publish in October 2016. The book will be illustrated by Steve May.
Mairi Kidd, m.d. of Barrington Stoke, says of the new acquisition: “I honestly can't remember when I last laughed so hard at a book. Guy has created a wonderfully grotesque cast of characters, headed up of course by awful Aidan, for whom I have a ridiculous soft spot, horrid creature though he is.”
