Batsford has acquired new colouring books from bestseller Millie Marotta and designer Maggie Magoo.
The publisher bought world rights to Maggie Magoo’s Amazing Alphabet, a colouring book of decorative letters by Magoo, a.k.a. Carole Fenwick, a surface pattern designer and founder of stationery and gift company Maggie Magoo Designs, with 95,000 followers on Instagram. The title will feature two designs for each letter of the alphabet, along with numbers and useful symbols, suitable to be framed once completed as artworks for the home. The book, acquired directly from the author, will be published as a £9.99 paperback in June 2023.
Meanwhile, Millie Marotta’s Island Escape will feature wildlife found around the world, from Bora Bora to Svalbard. Marotta’s titles have sold nine million copies around the world and been translated into over 30 languages, the publisher said. World rights were acquired via Karolina Sutton at Curtis Brown, and publication as a £12.99 paperback will be September 2022.
Batsford publishing director Tina Persaud said: "Millie never disappoints and is a great creative to work with. She brings fresh illustrations every time and that’s what keeps the fans very happy. And we’re delighted to have another terrific illustrator join us for Maggie Magoo’s Amazing Alphabet."
