Simon & Schuster Children’s UK has signed a two-book deal with actor and comedian Ben Miller.
The first book, The Night I Met Father Christmas, is about Jackson, who has always wanted to meet Father Christmas, and is described as a “charming and magical story”.
Jane Griffiths, editorial director for children’s fiction at S&S, bought the world English rights from Luigi Bonomi at LBA Books and will publish in November 2018.
“I was transfixed by Ben’s writing immediately; it’s full of warmth, humour and magic and from the outset you know you’re in the hands of a great storyteller,” she said. “The Night I Met Father Christmas is the perfect story to share together in the lead-up to Christmas as the excitement grows and we believe it has all the hallmarks of a Christmas classic in the making.”
A second title will follow in November 2019.
Miller wrote and starred in television’s "The Armstrong and Miller Show" and had lead roles in "Death in Paradise" and "I Want My Wife Back". He appeared on the big screen in the recent film "Paddington 2".
