BHP to publish drawings by Walking Dead artist Adlard

The Walking Dead artist and former UK Comics Laureate Charlie Adlard is publishing a collection of illustrations from across his career with BHP Comics.

BHP founder and publisher Sha Nazir acquired world rights for Charlie Adlard: Drawings + Sketches from the author. Edited by Tim Pilcher, it promises to give fans “a peek behind the curtain of his creations”.

Featuring work from comics The Walking Dead, Vampire State Building, Wendigo and more, the book includes more than 100 pages of rare and never before seen drawings. It is out in summer 2020 with readers able to reserve a copy through Kickstarter from 4th November.

Pilcher said: “I’ve been lucky enough to call Charlie Adlard a close friend for over 25 years and have loved watching his work evolve and mature as he’s honed his craft. This book gives a peek into that process, examining his working systems and revealing additional insights into his creative mind, while using real world examples from across his entire, extensive and varied, career.”

Nazir added: “BHP is thrilled to work with acclaimed editor Tim Pilcher and Charlie Adlard - a former DC Comics/Vertigo and Humanoids editor and globally acclaimed illustrator respectively - who will together curate a book to showcase some unseen gems and processes in Adlard’s work.
