Picture book star Rob Biddulph has signed a new three-book deal with HarperCollins Children’s Books.
World rights were secured by Alice Blacker, publishing director for picture books, from Jodie Hodges at United Agents. The deal continues his exclusive picture book publishing with HarperCollins and will see the first book under the new contract released in autumn 2021.
Biddulph has been with the firm since debut Blown Away, which won the Waterstones Children’s Book of the Year award in 2015. Since then he has won multiple prizes for books including GRRRRR!, Odd Dog Out, Sunk!, Kevin and the Dinosaur Junior series.
Biddulph was named the official World Book Day Illustrator for 2019 and 2020 and his books have sealed deals with 13 global publishers. His tenth picture book, Dog Gone, will be published in September.
He said: ‘I've been part of the HarperCollins family for my entire picture-book career and have always felt very privileged to be published by the fantastic Children's Books team. So, naturally, I'm thrilled to have signed on for books 11, 12 and 13. We have big plans for these titles, and I can't wait to tell you all about them. I think readers will love what we have in store for them."
Blacker added: “We are so thrilled to be continuing our exclusive picture-book partnership with Rob. Nobody creates picture books with such heart and humour, and coupled with his instantly recognisable and vibrant artwork, he really is a one off. The future is very bright for the brilliant Rob Biddulph.”
