Binky Felstead's first parenting book signed by Piatkus

Piatkus has signed the “ultimate source of support and reassurance” for parents by “Made in Chelsea” star turned parenting influencer Binky Felstead.

Jillian Young, editorial director at Piatkus non-fiction, acquired world rights to The Making of You from Max Parker at Matchstick Group, for publication in March 2023. 

In the book, Felstead covers topics such as co-parenting, miscarriage, blended families, building confidence and losing and finding friends and yourself post-baby – things she has herself been through.

“Interwoven with expert voices in this area, this book will be for a new generation of mothers who love their children, but also want to care for themselves,” the publisher said, adding Felstead has teamed up with some of the most knowledgeable experts in areas such as maternal anxiety and postpartum nutrition and fitness.

Felstead rose to fame in reality show “Made in Chelsea” in 2011, but since leaving the show she has had a baby, been a single parent, and co-founded Bloss, an education and lifestyle platform that helps parents and parents-to-be care for their little ones and themselves.

Young said: “Binky shows the honest and raw side of parenting – one that we often don’t see on social media. Her 1.5 million followers are heavily engaged with her unfiltered take on parenting, family dynamics and how she has claimed herself back, physically and mentally, postpartum.”

Felstead added: “I’ve wanted to do a book like this for years and am so incredibly thankful to Jillian and everyone at Piatkus for making this a reality. Becoming a mother was an amazing experience but also one of the most challenging, being the first of my friendship circle to have a child.

“Although I loved my newborn baby, I felt like I lost my identity as a woman. However I soon found that becoming a mother was the making of me and gave me a purpose. Since I founded Bloss, I’ve been on a journey of education, learning from our experts on various topics in parenting and parenthood. The Making of You is my view of parenting from a single mum, separation and finding new love, which led to my beautiful second child. I hope the reader enjoys this book, as much as I did writing it.”
