Biteback has seized a new political thriller by Andy Bell, political editor of Channel 5 News.
Publisher James Stephens acquired world rights to Bell’s debut, Sovereign Territory, directly from the author.
Sovereign Territory opens to the scene of the Brexit referendum, following the fortunes of four characters at the heart of that political world whose lives are about to change dramatically: a special adviser to a government minister, an opposition MP, an activist and a TV news producer. Each struggle to keep control of both their professional and personal lives as the political situation becomes more aggressive and unpredictable.
Stephens said: “Sovereign Territory is one of the most assured debut novels I have read in years. It brings to vivid life the events surrounding the EU referendum and explains its human impact through the prism of four brilliantly drawn characters.”
Bell added: “I had a front-row seat to the chaos unleashed by the Brexit vote. I have dropped four characters into that world and watched their professional and personal lives come under almost unbearable strain.”
