Black & White Publishing has acquired The Lunchbox Mama by Rachel Stirling, a food content creator who posts on social media as The Lunchbox Mama.
World rights were acquired from Kate Evans at Peters Fraser + Dunlop by Ali McBride, publishing director at Black & White. The book, described as “a treasure trove of beautifully balanced and easy recipes to make food fun again for every lunchbox, every day of the week”, will be published on 29th August 2024.
The publisher says: “Designed for all children, but also catering for fussy or reluctant eaters, The Lunchbox Mama includes everything from super simple everyday ideas, freezer saviours and playdate platters to beautifully curated themed lunches for any celebration. Every recipe is full of inspiration and will take packed lunches from the mundane to the magical.
“Use the Lunchbox Formula to relieve the mental load of packing lunches, tick off food categories to ensure a balanced lunch and check the cheat sheets to make the big shop easy, help feed kids in the school holidays and keep them entertained with a series of ‘snacktivities’. The Lunchbox Mama is the perfect book to create brilliantly simple lunches for children aged between two and 12 years old and for those looking for solutions to fussy eating and healthy balanced meals on a budget.”
Stirling said: "I’m so excited for The Lunchbox Mama book to make it out into the world – it’s something I’ve dreamed of writing since I started sharing my fun food ideas for kids online five years ago. Packing lunches can be so dull so I want to show mums (and dads, carers, grandparents etc) how to have fun while doing it day in, day out! I’ve included everything from super quick ideas to elevate lunch in a hurry, to new everyday faithfuls, to all out fun themed lunch boxes for special occasions. So there is something for everyone and lots of fun to be had along the way too!”
McBride said: “Rachel is amazing at what she does and has created a wonderful community for people to help make lunchtime fun. We are delighted to be working with her to publish this beautifully curated guide to children’s meals. Including tips, fun activities, cheat sheets and more. It’s everything you need to make your life easier and their lunches magical.”
