In the first acquisition for the publisher, Black Crow Books has signed a four-book deal with "horror phenomenon" Keith Rosson.
Jamie-Lee Nardone, director and publisher, acquired English language UK and Commonwealth rights for print, e-book and audio to Fever House, The Devil By Name and Coffin Moon from Penguin Random House, US. Fever House, the first book in the deal, will be released in March 2025, with the second book in the duology, The Devil By Name, following in October 2025. Coffin Moon will be published in September 2025. Nardone also acquired English language UK and Commonwealth rights for print, e-book and audio for a fourth as-yet untitled book from Hayley Steed on behalf of Chad Luibl at Janklow & Nesbit.
Both books in the Fever House duology will be published immediately as e-books with paperback original editions following. A limited first print run of Fever House and The Devil By Name will have blocked sprayed edges and another "super" limited edition hardback slipcase set signed by the author will have sprayed edges and "beautifully" designed endpapers. They will be available for purchase on the publisher’s website.
Pitched as Pulp Fiction meets Stephen King’s The Stand, the Fever House duology follows a small-time criminal, a has-been rock star and a shadowy government agency whose lives connect "due to a severed hand whose dark powers threaten to destroy them all". Coffin Moon is billed as a "stunning Americana horror/thriller" set after the Vietnam War.
Rosson said: "I’m absolutely thrilled to working with Jamie and the team at Black Crow Books – with their keen, knowing eye toward horror and darker crime fiction, and the ground-floor enthusiasm that comes with inaugural launches, great things are going to happen. I’m profoundly excited."
"‘I don’t believe in fate," commented Nardone. "But both pitches landed in my inbox independently of one another, and I don’t think I’ve read anything so fast in my life. Keith Rosson is an exceptional and undeniable talent who explores the power of relationships against the backdrop of ultimate horror and despair. I found myself in absolute awe, and I just know Keith is going to absolutely huge. I genuinely couldn’t wish for a better start for Black Crow Books."
