Scottish indie Black & White will publish the first book from "Great British Bake Off" 2020 winner Peter Sawkins.
Sawkins, a student from Edinburgh, won the baking competition at just 20 years old, making him the show's youngest ever winner. The final of the 2020 series attracted an average audience of 9.2 million viewers, peaking at 10.4 million, which was the show’s biggest ever overnight audience on Channel 4, said the publisher.
In Peter Bakes, Sawkins will show readers how to recreate his recipes, from teatime cakes to showstopping patisserie, from delicious puddings that will "bring a smile to your face", to fresh ideas to inspire kids in the kitchen. All of the recipes will come with the gluten-free options that are part of Sawkins' baking repertoire.
Sawkins will also offer hints and tips about how to truly enjoy baking, enhance your skills and develop the confidence to trust your senses when baking.
The author commented: "I am so excited to share my passion for baking in this book. I want readers to find the fresh ideas inspiring and the classic techniques valuable. I really hope the book proves to be enjoyable and useful, and that everyone’s copies at home will be well-thumbed and splattered with cake batter in the years to come."
Alison McBride, publishing director, acquired world rights from Geraldine Woods at Yellow Poppy Media. Publication is slated for October 2021.
