Black & White has scooped a poetry collection from "social media sensation" Havva Ramadan.
Executive publisher Campbell Brown acquired world rights directly from the author for A Voice: Turning Pain into Power. The collection will be published on 26th September 2024.
Ramadan began penning her debut poetry collection during lockdown when she began sharing her poetry and spoken word to her social media followers. A Voice: Turning Pain into Power combines her most "beloved" material and "previously unpublished work" where Ramadan reveals details of her early life.
Ramadan said: “I was sending my book to people thinking I would never get a reply until one day I received a response from Campbell. I can’t even explain how it felt that someone was interested in publishing my book. This will be my first publication and I’m so happy to be working with Black & White to bring my spoken poetry to paper.”
Brown added: “Working with Havva to publish her personal words on loss, grief and heartbreak has been a touching experience. I know that this book will be a comfort to so many people who had similar experiences and Havva’s writing will resonate with her existing followers and new readers alike.”
