Blink, the commercial non-fiction imprint of Bonnier Books UK, has acquired the first full autobiography from cricket legend Jimmy Anderson. Matt Phillips, publisher, acquired World All Languages rights from David Luxton at David Luxton Associates on behalf of M&C Saatchi Merlin.
Jimmy delves deeply into what it really takes to get to the top and the mindset you need to stay there for so long, following his retirement after 188 test matches, 704 wickets, and a 21-year career.
Blink explained the autobiography is a "no-holds-barred tell-all of one of the most extraordinary cricket careers of all time" and will be published on 7th November 2024.
The book will be co-written with Felix White, author, musician and Jimmy’s co-host on the hit podcast series, "Tailenders". The audio edition will be read by Jimmy himself and will feature guest appearances.
Anderson said: "The last few weeks approaching retirement have been an emotional rollercoaster and it’s been incredible to see the reaction of the fans and to see that it means the same to them as it does to me. As a player, you don’t get a chance to reflect much—there’s always the next over to bowl, the next game to play—and so I’m completely thrilled to be taking the time now to look back over my career, while it’s all still fresh in my mind, and tell the story of the journey so far, because it’s been truly unforgettable."
Phillips said: "It is a dream come true to be welcoming Jimmy Anderson to the Blink list. His astonishing list of accomplishments speak for themselves—there truly has never been another cricketer like him. After 21 years, Jimmy may have closed the door on his England career, but now he’ll be bringing the same focus, intensity and honesty that has helped him become the greatest fast bowler of all time to his first full autobiography. Written with the brilliant Felix White, Jimmy’s promises to be a sports book for the ages and one that readers will be desperate to get hold of, read and share."
The book will be published by Blink on 7th November 2024 in hardback, e-book and audiobook.
