Blink Publishing, part of Bonnier Publishing, has acquired the rights to Netflix original series, Peter Morgan’s "The Crown" from Leftbank Pictures, Sony Pictures and Netflix.
"The Crown", which launched on Netflix in November 2016, tells the inside story of the life of Queen Elizabeth II. The series documents her reign, revealing the personal intrigues, romances, and political rivalries behind events that shaped the second half of the 20th century.
A Netflix original series, with a second series commissioned, "The Crown" has won two Golden Globe awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a Critics Choice Award.
The book, written by Robert Lacey, will follow the TV series’ chronology and provide readers with the history and context of the time, documenting Queen Elizabeth II’s journey, from a 25-year-old wife and mother with the daunting prospect of leading the world's most famous monarchy, to forging a relationship with formidable Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill.
Perminder Mann and Ben Dunn of Kings Road Publishing acquired world all language rights, from Michael Foster of Fostermco Limited on behalf of Left Bank Pictures, to publish in line with the second Netflix series in autumn 2017.
Andy Harries, chief executive and co-founder of Left Bank Pictures, producers of "The Crown", said: "We are delighted to have signed with Bonnier Publishing; Perminder and Ben and the team exhibited a great understanding and passion for this most special of projects and we can't wait to start work on the book."
