Blink is publishing an "honest and poignant" memoir by Guardian journalist Sarah Hughes, who passed away earlier this year.
In early 2021, before Hughes' death, editorial director Susannah Otter acquired world rights for Holding Tight, Letting Go from Veronique Baxter at David Higham Associates. It will publish in March 2022.
The book is described by the publisher as "a celebration of everything that can make up a life, and how to hold it all close when everything feels completely precarious". It features essays from Hughes on various subjects from planning your own funeral to the importance of trashy novels, as well as contributions from friends throughout her life.
Hughes regularly contributed to a variety of publications including the Guardian, Independent, Independent on Sunday, Observer and Metro specialising in entertainment writing with a particular emphasis on television.
Otter said: "Sarah was a guiding light for so many, in so many different ways. She really knew what it was to live, fully and completely, with commitment, honesty and joy. It is a huge pleasure, and a colossal honour, to be publishing this luminously funny, honest collection from her with contributions from those who knew her best."
