Blink has signed a memoir from comedian Pierre Novellie, titled What Can’t I Just Enjoy Things?
World all-language rights were acquired by senior editor Joe Hallsworth from Mary-Grace Brunker at Avalon for publication in August 2024.
Novellie’s memoir explores his late diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and is pitched as a "light-hearted and accessible examination of neurodiversity through the lens of observational comedy".
Hallsworth commented: "Pierre has that rare gift of being able to both inform and entertain in equal measure, and I’m incredibly excited to be publishing Why Can’t I Just Enjoy Things? Whether you have autism, suspect you have it or know someone who does, Pierre guides you through the challenges he encounters with his uniquely erudite and laugh-out-loud observations."
Novellie currently co-hosts both "The Frank Skinner Show" on Absolute Radio and the podcast "BudPud". He said: "Working with Joe and Blink has been a dream — maybe with this book observational comedy can do for autism what it has done for airline food and man drawers."
