Blink Publishing has picked up The Wanted star Tom Parker’s “inspirational and moving” memoir Hope.
Susannah Otter, publishing director, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Oscar Janson-Smith at Gleam Futures. The book, out on 21st July 2022, will be written with Grant Brydon, a music journalist and author.
It follows Parker’s journey from working-class Bolton beginnings to his chart-topping fame as a member of boyband The Wanted, through to being diagnosed in 2020 with stage IV brain cancer and his search for a cure through chemotherapy and alternative methods.
He said: “This is a book about finding hope no matter what, and living your best life no matter what. It will show you how having faith in hope and daring to dream means you can carry on, against all odds. I’m so pleased to be working with Bonnier on this project.”
Otter added: “Along with millions of others, I was deeply moved by Tom’s documentary and the courage he has shown in the face of his illness. This book will be a real beacon and we are honoured to publish it.”
On publication, signed editions will be available from W H Smith.
