Blink Publishing has signed the first full autobiography from British racing driver Jenson Button.
Matt Phillips, publishing director at Blink Publishing, acquired world rights in all languages from David Luxton at David Luxton Associates, following a seven-way auction.
In the book, Button will reflect on growing up in a motor racing family, climbing through the ranks as a young prospect, to to winning World Championships. He will also reveal the inside track on racing’s greats like Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso and Ross Brawn, plus working with characters such as Bernie Ecclestone, Ron Dennis and Frank Williams.
Phillips said: “I am hugely excited to be publishing Jenson’s book. He is a quintessentially British sportsman, almost a throwback to a different era, with his charm, eloquence and intelligence, and a fierce determination to succeed. I think most men would give their right arm to spend a few days as Jenson Button, and this book will get them as close as possible to the real thing.”
Button added: “After not only 17 years in F1 but 28 years of racing from the age of eight, I’ve both seen and experienced so much and this book is a chance to share as much of that as possible with the incredible fans who were there throughout. My dream was always to race in F1 and then once there the focus of course was always to win a World Championship. The journey to achieving that goal was far from straightforward but it was also far from dull! I dedicated 17 years and my entire adult life to F1 and I went on that journey with family, friends and teams that ensured every day was special and this book is a celebration and insight into that and all we achieved together.”
Blink will publish Button’s autobiography as a £20 hardback on 19th October 2017.
