Bloomsbury UK and USA will publish a "remarkable" memoir by Edmund White, which the publisher has described as "the most intimate and personal book from one of the world’s most celebrated writers about sex".
Editor-in-chief Paul Baggaley will publish the UK edition of The Loves of My Life: A Sex Memoir, also published by Callie Garnett at Bloomsbury USA, in January 2025. Bill Clegg of The Clegg Agency sold world English-language rights to Bloomsbury USA.
The synopsis says: "Unyieldingly honest, outrageously raucous and arrestingly touching, The Loves of My Life will see White look back at his life through the lens of sex, a topic which has inspired much of his lauded fiction and non-fiction, including A Boy’s Own Story [Picador], considered a cornerstone of the gay canon."
Baggaley said: "I have admired Edmund White’s writing for over 40 years, and couldn’t be prouder to publish The Loves of My Life. This is the perfect book for our times, a memoir that is wildly entertaining and mischievously compelling, but also a truly important overview of the complexities and challenges of gay life in America over 70 years."
