Bloomsbury announces new book from 'The Rest is History' podcast hosts
Bloomsbury Trade has snapped up a new book from the team behind the popular "The Rest is History" podcast.
Editorial directors Jasmine Horsey and Ariel Pakier acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to The Rest is History Returns: An A–Z of Historical Curiosities by Tom Holland, Dominic Sandbrook and the podcast company Goalhanger from Florence Dodd at WME in a nine-way auction. The book will be published on 19th September 2024.
The synopsis states: "The book follows the success of last year’s The Rest is History: History’s Most Curious Questions Answered [Bloomsbury Publishing], this time taking readers through an alphabetical miscellany of some of history’s best and most bizarre moments – such as the Mitford sister when she tried to seduce her girlish crush, Adolf Hitler; why the Romans inspired so much science fiction; the 14th-century Bride of Christ; and history’s top 10 monkeys. The book also includes trivia games and a pub quiz."
Horsey said: "We’ve loved working with The Rest is History team to bring this phenomenon to the page. The Rest is History Returns will take readers on another thrilling journey through the past, delivering top-notch history with even more spirit and fun. We are very excited to bring the book to fans old and new."
