Bloomsbury Children’s Books today announced the acquisition of It Takes a Team, a new children’s non-fiction series offering young readers insight into creative jobs.
The four-book non-fiction series is by author Doro Globus. She has partnered with illustrator Rose Blake, who will illustrated the first title and help art direct the series.
The first It Takes a Team title, We Made a Song, will be published in February 2026, followed by We Made a Movie in August 2026. A further two titles will be published in 2027.
Full series world rights in all languages were acquired by Emily Ball, senior commissioning editor for non-fiction at Bloomsbury Children’s Books, from James Spackman at The bks Agency for Globus.
Blake will illustrate We Made a Song. Illustrators picked for their connection to the subject matter will take on further books in the series, with Serge Seidlitz set to illustrate We Made a Movie. Seidlitz’s illustration was acquired by Ball from B&A Illustration, this is his first picture book for children.
Ball said: “We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Doro Globus and Rose Blake on this groundbreaking new series. From the moment we saw it, we knew it had huge potential both in the UK and internationally. From movies to songs, football games to video games, and much more, our hope is to create a library of books which will inspire and educate children from all walks of life. We believe that ‘you can’t be what you can’t see’, and books like these truly showcase the transformative power of books to change lives and open doors, helping kids realise that nothing is off limits.”
Globus is a writer, editor and publisher, who has worked in arts publishing for more than 15 years. She is the author of Making a Great Exhibition and I Am an Artist, both illustrated by Blake, which have sold into six languages.
Doro said: “I realised that children are taught more about Mars than about how a movie ends up on a screen or a song in their ears. I really wanted to help kids learn about the people who make everything. I believe if we share these careers in an interesting way then we can open these worlds up and, ideally, create access to them. Interested in telling a story rather than presenting a series of facts, we were drawn to the fabulous team at Bloomsbury. With their award-winning non-fiction children’s list and shared vision for the series I knew I had found the right team to collaborate with and bring the ideas to life.”
