Bloomsbury is launching a gift list with books by authors Ian Ryan, Anna Cascarina and Claire Dinhut.
Grace Paul, editorial director at Bloomsbury Lifestyle, bought rights to the books. These are her first acquisitions since joining Bloomsbury in January 2023, and reflect Bloomsbury Lifestyle’s planned expansion into the lifestyle and gift arena.
Paul acquired world rights for Ryan’s A Beautiful Pint: One Man’s Search for the Perfect Pint of Guinness directly from the author, who is the founder of Instagram accounts Shit London Guinness and Beautiful Pints. The book, which will publish on 26th October 2023 in hardback, e-book and audiobook, will delve into what makes "a beautiful pint of Guinness", from the venue to the glass and the pour.
The editorial director said: "We all have a friend who claims they know where to get the best pint of Guinness and, with sales of the drink at an all-time high, it only feels right that Ian sets the record straight on what makes a good pint with his trademark wit."
Meanwhile, Paul acquired world rights directly from the author, Cascarina, for The Wardrobe Edit, which will be publishing in May 2024. The book, by fashion editor and content creator Cascarina, is described as an "essential guide to creating a long-lasting and empowering capsule wardrobe".
Paul said: "I’ve been following Anna for a few years now and her approach to fashion has completely changed my wardrobe for the better. I love her approachability as well as how she campaigns against ageism and is on a mission to ensure women of all ages, backgrounds and sizes feel confident and good in themselves."
In addition, Paul acquired world rights (excluding US and Canada) to Dinhut’s The Condiment Book, scheduled for publication in September 2024, from Kate Evans at PFD in a three-way auction. The author studied culinary history at Harvard before her "obsession with how we shape flavours" turned into a career as Condiment Claire.
Dinhut’s book is described as a "playful exploration of flavour via the medium of condiments from all around the world". Paul said: "As soon as this proposal was sent to me, I knew I needed to publish this book. I was blown away by Claire’s expertise and knowledge of her area when I first met her – she’s exactly the kind of author we’re looking for at Bloomsbury Lifestyle."
