Bloomsbury has acquired Italian chef Gino D’Acampo’s latest cookbook Gino’s Italy: Like Mamma Used to Make.
Bloomsbury Lifestyle publisher Rowan Yapp obtained world all language rights from Luciano D’Acampo at Mems Agency and Matt Kay. It will publish in hardback on 15th September 2022.
"Gino shares his ultimate recipes for classic Italian meals along with the secrets to making the very best version of much-loved dishes drawing on the wisdom of his late mother, his 15 aunties, and a whole nation of home cooking nonnas," the synopsis reads. "This cookbook will show just how important family and food is to the people of Italy – and to him."
Yapp said: "This book is a roll call of Italian classics done the proper, authentic way. Gino’s nonnas have taught him a thing or two and now we’re lucky enough that he’s sharing their kitchen secrets, from the perfect silky pasta sauce to the dreamiest of desserts."
The new cookbook will publish as a standalone, accompanying a six-part ITV series. In the series D’Acampo will be travelling across Italy—including Naples, Florence and Bologna—to experience local dishes from families and their matriarchs along the way. Among more than 80 recipes in the book are grilled scallops with parsley and hazelnut butter, slow-cooked pork shoulder with crackling, and Biscoff espresso coffee cheesecake and vanilla breakfast cake.
The chef said: "Ciao – my new book this autumn is called Gino’s Italy: Like Mamma Used to Make," he said. "It’s a book that is really close to my heart as it draws on the wisdom of my Mamma and many aunties, as well as a nation of home cooking nonnas, and contains the ultimate recipes for many of Italy’s best loved recipes. If you love Italian food and want to re-create authentic recipes at home this book is for you."
