Bloomsbury to publish Washington Post's Leonnig and Rucker's take on Trump

Bloomsbury will publish a book by Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post journalists Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker on Donald Trump's reinvention of the presidency.

In A Very Stable Genius, Washington Post national investigative reporter Carol Leonnig and White House Bureau Chief Philip Rucker will chronicle "the ways President Donald Trump has reinvented the presidency in his own image, shaken foreign alliances and tested American institutions" all while showing, on the basis of scores of interviews with first-hand witnesses, "in fact there is a pattern and meaning to the daily disorder".

The book will publish on 21st January 2020 after Alexis Kirschbaum, publishing director at Bloomsbury Publishing, bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Natasha Fairweather at RCW.

It will publish simultaneously with Penguin Press in the US; Ann Godoff, president and editor-in-chief of the Penguin Press, made the deal for North American rights with Elyse Cheney at The Cheney Agency.

Rucker, as the White House Bureau Chief at The Washington Post, leads its coverage of Trump and his administration. He and a team of Post reporters, including Leonnig, won the Pulitzer Prize in 2017 for their reporting on Russia's intereference in the 2016 presidential election.

Leonnig, a national investigative reporter at The Washington Post, won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for reporting on security failures and misconduct inside the Secret Service. She was also part of the Post's Pulitzer-winning team in 2017, and in 2014, for revealing secret and broad surveillance of Americans.
