Bloomsbury imprint Absolute will publish Lose Weight & Get Fit by Tom Kerridge, featuring 100 high-flavour recipes for dieting and fitness in December.
The book will be published in hardback (£22) on 12th December 2019, to tie in with a six-part primetime BBC2 television series of the same name, airing in early 2020.
Publisher Jon Croft acquired world rights in a deal with Borra Garson at Deborah McKenna Limited. Bloomsbury will be supporting publication with a major marketing and publicity campaign.
This is Bloomsbury’s sixth book with Kerridge, chef-patron of double-Michelin-starred pub The Hand & Flowers in Marlow. Kerridge’s cookbooks have sold more than 1.3 million copies to date, according to Bloomsbury.
Following Kerridge’s bestselling Lose Weight for Good and Tom Kerridge’s Fresh Start, published last December, the chef is now “dishing out plenty more home-cooked recipes that are filling, flavour-packed and nutritious while still lower in calories,” Bloomsbury said. “But this time, Tom is cooking with a more active lifestyle in mind. And he is getting involved himself.”
“As a Michelin-starred chef with personal experience of losing 12 stone, Tom knows that cooking good food is the first step on the road to both weight-loss and better performance," the synopsis reads. "In Lose Weight & Get Fit he shows how you can eat well, shed the pounds and kick-start a more active lifestyle.”
The recipes include British classics, international dishes and “family favourites”, featuring dishes such as Cajun-style salmon, a “protein breakfast”, and a burrito lunchbox.
Kerridge said: “I lost a load of weight a few years ago but lately I’ve seen it creeping back up. And I’m not as fit as I want to be at my age. So I’ve set myself and a gang of volunteers a challenge for the TV series – to lose weight and get fit together.”
He added: “For me, losing weight was less about reaching a target weight and more about getting fitter and healthier. I reckon that setting fitness goals alongside weight-loss goals is a win-win formula for lasting success – and here are the recipes to help you.”
Kerridge has sold 1.3 million books for £13.5m, his biggest being Lose Weight for Good (Bloomsbury) at 453,117 copies sold, according to Nielsen BookScan.
