Bloomsbury has nabbed two new novels by Rumaan Alam, the author of Leave the World Behind (Bloomsbury).
Publisher Alexis Kirschbaum acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, including audio, to Entitlement and a second novel from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein on behalf of Julie Barer at the Book Group. North American rights were acquired by Sarah McGrath at Riverhead.
Entitlement is scheduled for publication in autumn 2024, backed by a major marketing and publicity campaign. It is a novel about "money, morality, class, consumption, race and privilege".
Alam’s book Leave the World Behind was recently adapted into a major motion picture for Netflix starring Julia Roberts. The film was released in UK cinemas on 24th November, and will be available to stream on Netflix from 8th December 2023.
The author said: "Entitlement is a book about the role of money in contemporary life, a subject that has long fascinated me. It’s an exhilarating moment when the story you spend years on is on the verge of becoming a book; I’m thrilled that Entitlement will be in the hands of readers so soon, and delighted to once again work with the superb team at Bloomsbury."
