Bloomsbury has seized Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s How to Eat 30 Plants a Week, with an introduction by Tim Spector.
Rowan Yapp, head of lifestyle, acquired world all-language rights from Antony Topping at Greene & Heaton, for publication in April 2024.
The synopsis says: "There is new and compelling scientific agreement that the best way to eat well and harness the myriad benefits of gut health is by eating 30 plants a week. Featuring an introduction by Tim Spector, bestselling author and founder of ZOE, in this new book Hugh shares 100 delicious recipes to help us get many more plants on our plates.
"Hugh shows you how to welcome a fantastic variety of plant ingredients into your kitchen by providing simple strategies for success: smarter shopping for seasonal fruit and veg, a healthy plant-based store-cupboard, and adjusting your mindset and regular kitchen habits to multi-plant eating."
Fearnley-Whittingstall is a writer, broadcaster and campaigner. His series for Channel 4 have earned him a large following, while his River Cottage books (Bloomsbury/ HarperCollins) have won awards including the Glenfiddich Trophy and the André Simon Food Book of the Year. He has also been awarded a BAFTA for the TV series "Fish Fight", as well as awards from Radio 4, the Observer and the Guild of Food Writers.
He said: “You’ve probably heard that it’s a good idea to eat more plants, that it will boost your gut health and help you stay well, but it’s easy to get stuck in the mindset that it’s an idealistic virtue rather than a fun and delicious way to eat. So I’m offering you easy ways to add more plants whenever you cook, as well as 100 recipes that give you more flavour and enjoyment with every extra plant.
"And it won’t cost you more in time or money. You’ll soon be eating (at least!) 30 plants a week, and reaping the benefits in great taste and good health.”
Yapp added: “Now that the science is clear, what we need is a trusted voice to show us how eating more plants can be a real pleasure. No one knows more about easy, delicious, plant-centric home cooking than Hugh, and this book couldn’t be more welcome or timely.”
