Bloomsbury's ravin' about Burgis' middle-grade fantasy

Bloomsbury Children’s Books has acquired world rights to "blockbuster new fantasy adventure" The Raven Heir, a fantasy adventure series by middle-grade author Stephanie Burgis (pictured).

Bloomsbury UK head of fiction Ellen Holgate and Bloomsbury US executive editor Sarah Shumway acquired world rights in two books from Molly Ker Hawn at the Bent Agency. The Raven Heir will publish in spring 2021 with the second title following in 2022. 

According to the synopsis: "Raven Heir is an epic adventure about a set of triplets, two warring dynasties and a broken crown waiting for its rightful owner."

Burgis said: "The Raven Heir was born in the magical woods and castles and blood-filled history of the exact part of Wales where I live, but it also brings together so many of my lifelong fascinations—the power of nature, the battle between despair and hope, and the true meaning of family. I can't wait to share it with everyone!”

Holgate added: “Stephanie’s new book delivers edge-of-your-seat action and captivating magic on a grand scale. This is an author who gets better and better and we are so proud to able to share her brilliant work with our international customers for the first time.”

Burgis previous books for Bloomsbury include The Dragon with a Chocolate Heart, which has been translated into 16 languages, The Girl with the Dragon Heart and The Princess Who Flew with Dragons.
