Bloomsbury UK and US have jointly acquired a pasta cookbook from the Padella restaurant founder, won in a "heated" 12-publisher auction.
Rowan Yapp at Bloomsbury UK and Harriet LeFavour at the publisher’s US division bought world all-language rights to Padella from Emily Sweet at Aevitas Creative Management. The book is written by the restaurant’s creative director Tim Siadatan, who co-founded the incredibly popular Borough Market-based eatery in 2016.
Bloomsbury UK will publish Padella in September 2025, with the US publication to follow in November. Bloomsbury said that when Padella first launched, the restaurant "put mind-blowing fresh pasta on the map". The title will include more than 100 recipes, all involving pasta.
Siadatan worked at London restaurants St John’s and Moro and was one of Jamie Oliver’s trainees. In 2017, he published Trullo with Square Peg, based on the north London restaurant of the same name which he also owns. He said: "I’ve spent my entire working life in pursuit of the perfect plate of pasta and it has become an obsession... pasta is what I cook the most. This book is the culmination of over 20 years of joyful study and experimentation."
Yapp added: "I have been waiting a long time for this book. Now the time has finally arrived to share the magic of Padella with home cooks and we have created an incredible book to do that justice. It includes all of Padella’s best loved recipes such as Tagliarini with Crab, Chilli, Lemon & Parsley, and Fettuccine with Nduja, Lemon & Mascarpone along with stunning off-menu favourites. Most importantly it gives the simple steps to make your pasta mind-blowingly good every time."
