Bloomsbury Wildlife is set to publish a "thrilling" exploration of nature’s symbiotic relationships by The People’s Book Prize award-winning author of Forget Me Not, Sophie Pavelle.
This is Pavelle’s second book and Julie Bailey, publisher at Bloomsbury Wildlife, bought world rights to To Have or To Hold: Nature’s Hidden Relationships from Sabhbh Curran at Curtis Brown for an undisclosed sum. The book will publish in the UK in May 2025.
Pavelle travelled around the British Isles and investigated eight symbiotic relationships trying to survive climate and biodiversity crisis.
The synopsis continues: "Pavelle explores how species persevere in forming and severing alliances and parasites regulate ecosystems and bind pivotal connections, from deep within temperate rainforests to the open ocean, quiet tidal pools or chalk grasslands."
Bailey said: "Sophie’s engaging debut inspired us all into action, and her new book is a vital, compelling and exceptional read. Sophie leads us toward a healthier relationship with nature."
Pavelle said: "I hope readers will feel as astonished and unsettled, comforted and empowered as I did upon glimpsing the interconnectedness of the natural world and the countless lessons they offer us."
Curran added: "I’m delighted that Sophie and the brilliant team at Bloomsbury Wildlife will be re-united for her second book as she turns her gaze to weird and wonderful symbiotic relationships in the natural world."
