Bluebird has secured To My Sisters: A Guide to Sisterhood, a “warm and relatable handbook” from Courtney Daniella Boateng and Renee Kapuku.
Mireille Harper, editorial director, acquired world all language rights directly from the authors. To My Sisters will be published in March 2023.
Boateng and Kapuku are the masterminds behind the "To My Sisters" podcast which has listeners in more than 30 countries. Boateng is also the owner of a beauty brand and a content creator, whilst Kapuku is a digital creator, entrepreneur and writer.
The book aims to give readers the advice and encouragement they need to create and sustain vital relationships. “This book will not only teach you how to find these life changing friends,” the publisher wrote, “but also crucially how to be that friend to someone else”.
Drawing on their decade-long friendship, Boateng and Kapuka talk about their “intimate and transformative experiences together, to help teach, guide and help other women make the most of their platonic female relationships”.
Harper commented: “As an avid weekly listener of Renee and Courtney’s brilliant podcast ’To My Sisters’ I feel immensely privileged and fortunate to be publishing their debut book. At a time when I think we’re all craving genuine connections, wanting to show our friends we appreciate them on a deeper level after a period of isolation and disconnection, and as we strive to build strong communities in the face of social division and unrest, I hope To My Sisters will bring joy to all who read it. May 2023 be the year of sisterhood.”
“It’s incredible and so exciting to have the opportunity to work with the Bluebird team to share our friendship and sisterhood of almost a decade with the world,” Boateng and Kapuku commented. “’To My Sisters’ has been the revolution through which we’ve seen so many important strides within the female friendship space. During a time in which now, more than ever before, there is a need for community, love and sisterhood - we’re looking forward to helping women across the globe share love and happiness with the people they have around them through our book.”
