Bolinda Audio has cast Ariyon Bakare and Daisy Head to narrate the audio edition of Amnesty International and Angelina Jolie’s Know Your Rights and Claim Them (Andersen Press).
Nicki Powell, Bolinda’s senior rights and content executive, acquired world English language rights from Liz White at Andersen Press.
Jolie, who co-authored the book with Amnesty International and Geraldine Van Bueren, has narrated the foreword to the title, with Bakare and Head reading the subsequent chapters. British actor Bakare has starred in hit BBC series such as “His Dark Materials”, while Head recently appeared in the Netflix adaptation “Shadow and Bone”.
Know Your Rights has already garnered praise from prominent activists such as Greta Thunberg, who called it “the perfect book for young people who care about the world and want to make a difference” and Malala Yousafzai.
Nicky Parker, literary partnerships lead at Amnesty International said: “Through this book we want to help children and young people to know and understand their rights and how to claim them. When children don’t even know they have rights, let alone what they are, they’re at greater risk of abuse, discrimination and exploitation. Knowledge is power. We hope this book will give young people the knowledge and confidence to stand up for themselves and each other.”
Bakare added: “Immensely brave acts from such little hands makes each page of this book one of the most informative and emotional audiobooks I’ve ever had the honour to narrate. I found it hard not to be physically moved by the work that Amnesty International and these young heroes have achieved… Thank you Amnesty, Angelina Jolie and all those involved for allowing me to be a willing soldier in the ongoing fight for children’s rights.”
