Bolinda has landed the audiobook memoir of "RuPaul’s Drag Race" star Shane Jenek, known as Courtney Act.
Senior rights and content manager Ellis Moore acquired the audio rights to Caught in the Act from Katy McEwen at Pantera Press. The UK audiobook will published simultaneously with the print edition on 1st June 2022.
The memoir documents Jenek’s early life in suburban Brisbane through to the genesis of Courtney Act. Act made her name performing in Sydney before appearing on "Australian Idol" in 2003. More than 10 years later she was named a runner-up on "RuPaul’s Drag Race", and in 2018 she won "Celebrity Big Brother" in the UK. She is a leading spokesperson for Australia’s LGBTQIA+ community.
"Caught in the Act is an essential story of sexuality, gender fluidity and queer identity that encourages even more people to embrace a world beyond the binary," the synopsis states.
Jenek said: "Writing my memoir Caught in the Act was such a mammoth and amazing milestone and recording the audiobook was the icing on the cake. I hope you enjoy listening to my story in my voice."
Moore added: "As a huge fan of drag, Courtney Act has always been prolific to me. As soon as I heard of Shane’s memoir, I knew it would offer so much more than some "Drag Race" insight, as Shane has since become an iconic representation of gender fluidity. I knew this book would be so accessible for so many different types of listeners and would offer not only laughs, but advice and support, too."
