TV and survival star Bear Grylls has signed up to a publishing programme with Bonnier Zaffre.
Mark Smith, c.e.o. of Bonnier Zaffre, closed a deal for activity books and fiction titles, aimed at readers aged 5-12, with Caroline Michel at Peters Fraser & Dunlop, who represents Bear Grylls.
Bonnier Zaffre will launch the range with the title World Adventurer, Extreme Planet and activity books in autumn 2016. Several ‘epic adventure’ books and ‘survival skill handbooks’ will follow in 2017, along with fiction series for 5-7 year-olds and a non-fiction history series called ‘Survival School Through the Ages’.
The range of formats will vary and prices will range from £3.99 to £12.99.
Mark Smith, c.e.o. of Bonnier Zaffre, said: "We are all thrilled to be in partnership with Bear and it's a fantastic opportunity to bring Bear to a wider and younger audience, who can grow up sharing the passion and enjoyment of experiencing the world through his adventures. This global publishing programme will allow us to draw on the expertise across the Bonnier Publishing group in the UK and we eagerly look forward to the first books publishing later this year."
Grylls has starred in several adventure shows for TV, including Mission Survive and Bear Grylls Survival School in the UK, Running Wild for NBC in America and Survivor Games for Dragon TV in China.
He is the author of several previous books, including a children’s series for Penguin Random House and action thrillers for Orion.
