BookSource’s Jim Chalmers is stepping down from his role as business development director after a decade with the Glasgow-based book distributor, and will be appointed non-executive director following his retirement at the end of June.
Chalmers, who will also retire from his current role of managing director at Quantum Publishing Solutions, said: “I’ve had a happy and fulfilling decade with BookSource, working with wonderful colleagues, but I’m looking forward to taking a step back and spending more time with friends and family.
“The management team has done an exceptional job at developing the company over the past few years and I am certain BookSource will continue to thrive. I look forward to continuing my BookSource journey in a new role as non-executive director.”
During his time at BookSource, Chalmers was part of the executive team that acquired several independent UK publishers to the BookSource client list including D C Thomson, Maverick, 5M Books, Equinox Publishing, MMS, the children’s publishing sales agency and, most recently, sales and marketing agency Inpress Books.
Managing director of BookSource, Davinder Bedi, commented: “Jim is a much respected member of the publishing industry. I’d like to congratulate him on his well-deserved retirement and thank him for his valued contribution to BookSource over the past 10 years. All of us at BookSource are grateful for his knowledge, experience and support. It is no exaggeration that we will miss Jim, however I am delighted that he has agreed to take up a role on our board as non-executive director.”
