Ebury Press has secured a multi-book deal with bestselling food platform Bored of Lunch. World all-language rights were acquired by commissioning editor Celia Palazzo directly from the author, Nathan Anthony.
Since the launch of Bored of Lunch in March 2020, Anthony has amassed over three million followers across his platforms. His goal is to inspire people to create healthy and delicious food using his favourite time-saving gadgets: the slow cooker and the air fryer.
Bored of Lunch: The Healthy Slow Cooker Book has sold 315,306 copies since January 2023 and spent seven weeks in the Hardback Non-Fiction number one (and four weeks in the overall top spot); while the March-published Healthy Air Fryer Book has sold 306,295 copies and is currently on 12 weeks in the category chart number one, including the most recent week. All in all Anthony has earned £5.88m in sales this year alone.
The first book in the new deal, Healthy Slow Cooker Book: Even Easier, is a second slow cooker book from the brand, and will include all new recipes with minimal prep, simple ingredients and time-saving tips and tricks.
“This is a must-have for any home cook,” the publisher says, “and with every recipe under 500 calories, this is food that can fit into any lifestyle, whether you’re following a healthy eating programme or not". The second book, Bored of Lunch: Healthy Air Fryer Super Speedy, will be published on the 11th April 2024.
Anthony said: “I am beyond thrilled to continue my publishing journey with Ebury Press. When I set up Bored of Lunch as a lockdown food blog I never in a million years thought it would reach the crazy heights it has now, not to mention the two number one books.
“I feel like I’m living someone else’s life! I knew early on the Bored of Lunch audience was a special and supportive community but I could never have predicted the amazing response to my first two books. I cannot wait to share the evolution of the next Bored of Lunch cookbooks with my followers.”
Palazzo said: “The response to the first two Bored of Lunch books was extraordinary to behold and a testament to how in-tune Nathan is with what busy home cooks really want from a cookbook. It’s clear that the appetite for easy, healthy and fuss-free food is going nowhere fast and we’re so excited to be working with Nathan on this next book which has been tailor-made with his fans’ needs in mind.”
