The Borough Press has announced an “utterly enchanting and original” new novel from Bridget Collins called The Betrayals.
Published in hardback, e-book and audiobook on 12th November, The Betrayals is set in an exclusive institution tucked away in the mountains where “the best and brightest study an arcane and mysterious game, as they have for centuries”. The synopsis says: “But times are changing, and traditions being overturned – the truth will come out…”
Collins is author of the Sunday Times number one bestseller The Binding, which was picked up by the publisher along with the new book following an eight-way auction back in 2017.
It has sold 92,810 UK print copies in paperback and 58,024 copies in hardback to date according to Nielsen BookScan and was shortlisted for Waterstones Book of the Year in 2019.
Suzie Dooré, publishing director for The Borough Press, said: “I was almost scared to start reading The Betrayals: could Bridget do it again? I’m delighted to say that she certainly can – The Betrayals is utterly enchanting and original, and also shares the crucial elements that made The Binding such a joy to read and such a huge success: beautiful writing, the creation of an extraordinarily immersive world and plenty of breathtaking twists. I’m really excited to share it with more readers!”
