Broken Sleep Books is set to publish an English translation of Norwegian author Gunnar Garfors’ “essential travel volume” Ingenstad under the title Elsewhere.
Publishing director Aaron Kent acquired global rights to the English translation by James Ecendance and will publish the book, in 360 colour pages, on 17th September 2023.
He said: “This is an essential travel volume, and one I know will be an inspiration for everyone who reads it. I am excited to begin this publishing partnership with Gunnar, and bring his work into English.
Elsewhere’s synopsis reads: “Gunnar Garfors has been to all the countries of the world – twice. In this book, he shares his experiences from the 20 countries people are least likely to travel to, all of which welcome between five dozen to 44,000 tourists a year.
“Some of these countries you may have barely heard about, others only in the media with associations of war, terror and misery. But every country is inhabited by mostly friendly people, and many have fascinating stories to tell. Through Garfors’ encounters and stories, we get to know more about these places and the world around us.
“A book that is enlightening, surprising and funny, Elsewhere makes it possible to travel to the least-visited places on the planet from the safety of your chair, and it will inspire you to travel yourself.”
Garfors is an author and public speaker. Originally a journalist, he has written several travel books and a cookbook. He has 10 travel-related world records to his name.
