Brutalist photography collection to September Publishing

September Publishing is to publish Brutal London, a collection of photography of London’s Brutalist architecture by photographer Simon Phipps.

Freelance consultant Ed Griffiths acquired world rights in all languages for Septetmber Publishing directly from the author.

The photography in Brutal London is arranged by inner London boroughs and takes in well-known examples such as the Trellick Tower and the National Theatre, as well as lesser known residential and municipal buildings. The book also contains an introduction and full building information by Phipps, which gives context to the buildings and their place within the raw concrete architecture movement known as Brutalism. Phipps also examines the growing momentum to celebrate, reclaim and preserve these buildings, many of which were once written off or allowed to decay.

Phipps is the creator of the New Brutalism archive of photography on Tumblr, Instagram and Twitter. He has exhibitions of his work upcoming this year at The Foundry Gallery in Chelsea and next year at the Architectural Association and the Museum im Bellpark, Kriens, Switzerland.
