Budden's debut collection to Dead Ink

Gary Budden, co-director of indie publisher Influx Press, is to publish his debut collection Hollow Shores with Dead Ink. 

Budden’s debut collection blends the traditions of weird fiction and landscape writing in an interlinked set of stories from the emotional geographies of London, Kent, Finland and a place known as the Hollow Shore. Finding horror and ecstasy in the mundane, Hollow Shores follows characters on the cusp of change in broken-down environments and the landscapes of the mind.

Budden said: “I’m delighted for Hollow Shores to have found a home at an exciting independent like Dead Ink. The small presses in the UK are where the real innovation is happening, and I’m proud to be a part of that.”

Nathan Connolly, director of Dead Ink, said: “Gary is precisely the type of author that Dead Ink was set up to work with. His voice is original, defined and in possesion of a purpose. In this collection he hasn’t been afraid of crossing boundaries and morphing territories”.

The book will be published in October 2017 and Dead Ink will be looking to sell translation and international rights at this year’s LondonBook Fair and Book Expo America. 

The publisher holds world rights to the title.
