Burning Eye Books has scooped the debut poetry collection from activist, writer, influencer and publishing professional Leena Norms.
The publisher acquired UK and Commonwealth rights for Bargain Bin Rom-Com directly from the author. The collection will be published on 7th July 2022.
It is described as a "tongue-in-cheek look at living on a planet that is filled with both doom and glitter". Norms has been sharing her poetry online for over 10 years and her video essays have amassed over 11 million views to date, covering everything from literature and second-hand fashion to protecting the planet and surviving your twenties.
Norms said: "I feel really honoured to be publishing with Burning Eye, whose work I've admired from afar for so long. Putting together this collection was a real reckoning for me, between my serious and silly selves, between my twenties and my thirties and ultimately between the looming dread of what the news cycle predicts could be our future... and impulse to keep hoping anyway."
The publisher added: "We are delighted to have the wonderful poet and book blogger Leena Norms join the Burning Eye cohort for 2022, our 10th year of publishing. Leena’s contribution to the spoken word community has helped many writers through accessible digital content. Now is time to shine the spotlight on this funny, compassionate and great talent."
